My name is Aleena Karamally and I’m a rising junior at University of California, San Diego double majoring in Communications and Human Development. On campus, I am the Managing Editor of a campus-wide news publication, as well as Captain of my school’s Intercollegiate Equestrian Team. I have a background in Journalism and Communications with experience in the field of education and a strong desire to improve the quality of life for underprivileged populations. Previously, I have interned at government and nonprofit agencies locally and internationally, working towards ensuring equal opportunity for all students.
Although I am not a New Horizon alum, I was introduced to New Horizon through my younger my brother and my family has become an active part of the New Horizon community. I chose to intern in the Advancement Office as a Marketing and Communications Intern because of the opportunity to learn more about both education and nonprofit work. I have seen firsthand through my family’s experiences and through the work I’ve completed so far the impact that a New Horizon education can have and look forward to continuing to learn from the incredible staff while working towards New Horizon’s inspiring mission.
