Nurturing Success in Every Student

Attending New Horizon for elementary school played a crucial role in shaping my identity as a Muslim living in America. The school’s emphasis on Islamic values and education provided a foundation that continues to influence my perspective and values today. The mentorship of the teachers was instrumental in my personal development, nurturing both academic growth and a sense of responsibility and leadership. Today, as an attorney, I find myself drawing on the values and skills imparted during my time at New Horizon, making it a pivotal chapter in my journey toward personal and professional fulfillment.

Ramsey graduated from Chapman University, where he earned his B.S. in Environmental Science with a minor in Chemistry. He currently attends the University of California, Davis, where he is studying to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

New horizon gave me space to explore my passions alongside my Islamic education. My future profession serving at the interface of people, animals, and the planet is driven by a desire to take care of all of Allah’s creation.

My time at New Horizon has had a profound impact on me, especially in shaping my personal growth and nurturing my Muslim identity. The school’s focus on values like respect and integrity has not only influenced how I relate to others personally but has also guided my approach to academics. These values, instilled at New Horizon, have naturally carried over into my professional life, giving me solid communication skills and cultural awareness. Essentially, the school has been more than just an academic institution; it has played a crucial role in shaping who I am, influencing me personally, academically, and professionally.

Saif attended Dartmouth College, where he studied Economics. After college, he moved to New York and worked in investment banking for almost four years. He now works for his family’s business in a strategy position.

New Horizon has had a pronounced impact on my life and my family. My siblings and I all grew up through the New Horizon curriculum and community. New Horizon instilled in us our earliest, base value systems and an indispensable sense of belonging to a wider community, crucial for a child. I am indescribably grateful for maintaining a connection to my religious and cultural roots, still being able to read and write Arabic and, more than anything, having a strong community and world-class organization which will care for me and mine and which I genuinely wish to support for years to come.

Hala graduated from the University of Southern California in 2022 from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. She received a degree in Journalism with a minor in Arabic. Throughout Hala’s education and career path, it was evident that she was creative and a storyteller through and through. Hala launched her business, Halaballoo, in 2020 while she was a junior in college. Its purpose, at the time, was solely to serve as a creative outlet, but since then, it has grown into so much more.

I recall the transition from New Horizon to a public school being a seamless one. New Horizon equipped me with the resources and tools to navigate the public school setting in a confident manner, while also staying true to myself and my roots.

Congratulations to Sabrina for graduating from Sage Hill School and being admitted to Northwestern University, where she will be studying Chemistry with a minor in Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering!

Being immersed in a tight-knit environment with people who shared my religion and values at a young age instilled an appreciation for community. It is because of this community that I am confident in my Muslim-American identity and am reassured that I can achieve anything in this world.

Sondos earned her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and is now attending law school at the University of California, Irvine.

New Horizon has really helped me to create and solidify my sense of self and identity, especially as a Muslim Egyptian in America. It is rare in professional settings to come across someone who shares the same identity as me, and I think it is important that I was raised to be strong and confident in my belief system so that I do not find my beliefs waver when tested, nor do I feel insecure nor the need to hide when it comes to sharing my beliefs. I am excited to (inshaAllah) graduate law school & come back to help serve the community that I owe so much of my success to.
