Spend your Friday nights having fun with friends and maintaining a connection to your faith by signing up for New Horizon’s Muslim Youth Club (MYC)! MYC and MYC2 are open to all 6th-8th and 9th-12th graders in and around Orange County.
The 2017 MYC Program was modified to enhance those aspects most meaningful to our community: being with friends, the outdoor/sports activities, and the speakers/topics! We aligned the timings of the MYC and MYC2 programs, lengthened the time to 2.5 hours, and have decided to do a speaker series so that students can anticipate topics and develop a connection with speakers from week to week. The first semester runs for 12 weeks on the following dates: September 15, 22; October 6, 13, 27; November 3, 10, 17; December 1, 8, 15; and January 12, so please mark your calendars. We have secured several incredible speakers for the first semester including the following:
Fouad Elgohari has studied the traditional Islamic sciences in the U.S. and throughout the Middle East. Currently, Br. Fouad is completing his Master’s Degree in Islamic Studies and plans to pursue his Doctorate Degree in Islamic Theology and Philosophy. Br. Fouad has also worked in the media industry since 2006 where he has written, produced, and shot a variety of socially conscious media. His work has received a variety of awards at film-festivals, a Telly Award, and a Webby for “Best Documentary Series,” in 2014.
